Vote Out Poverty Pledge

Sign the Vote Out Poverty pledge!

The Vote Out Poverty pledges are designed to generate the political will among our nation’s leaders necessary for them to prioritize the fight against poverty. In order to create this sense of urgency, we must show how many citizens are committed to the cause.

Who can sign?

Anyone of voting age can sign the Vote Out Poverty pledge, which states:

Dear candidates,
Because of my faith, I pledge to make overcoming poverty central
to how I cast my ballot in 2008.

I want to hear your commitment and plans for achieving the following goals:
• Cutting the number of Americans living in poverty in half over the next 10 years.
• Help end extreme global poverty by achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
I want to see your leadership on these important issues and will inform my friends and family
of your positions.

How many names?

What next?

Voter pledges are a tool to build awareness in the church of the need to make overcoming poverty a political priority. Pledges also serve a larger purpose in showing our size and strength to politicians. Candidates also have the ability to join with their constituents by signing their own pledge.

Candidate Pledges

We are asking candidates for federal office (House of Representatives, Senate, and president) to join with us in our Vote Out Poverty campaign. Candidates can sign the pledge to show their support:

Candidates who sign the pledge will form the basis for a strong, anti-poverty leadership group after the election. We look forward to working with them!
